Best Cold Cut Banh Mi in San Jose area. I've had Banh Mi in Vietnam before and the garlic bread here is a game changer. Well worth getting the garlic bread for +$0.50 each. Buy four get one free. My go-to: - Cold cut combo with garlic bread Did not like: - Xiu mai (meatball). It's not the same as Vietnam which is braised in a tomato sauce. It's just plain and kinda dry. Service is quick for the amount of orders they get. usually less than 10mins Takeout only.
Small place, take out only. Seems like there's always a line (a good sign) but the staff has their routine down and they really can crank out these sandwiches. Definitely one of the better banh mi sandwiches in the South Bay.
Delicious vietnamese sandwiches. You can get the option of either a small or a large sandwich. The small size was more than enough to fill me up but the large size is a great value for a couple of people that want to share. There was a short line when I came by on a Saturday afternoon but it moved relatively quicker. There was then another line for those that were actually picking up their orders. I decided to get a small pork belly sandwich and a small steak sandwich (one of their new specials). I also got a large cold cut combo. The french rolls for the sandwich were so fresh. The cooked meats were cooked perfectly, not overly seasoned, and the additional ingredients (herbs, mayo, etc) were all fresh and paired great with the protein. There was a bit of a language barrier with the front staff taking my order, but that's not necessarily their fault. Given it was my first time here, I had some questions about their menu and we had some issues communicating, but eventually I was able to get what I wanted. The parking lot here is also pretty packed and isn't the cleanest and also will have some unsavory characters.
I visited on a weekday afternoon, and although the line was long, it moved quickly. It's helpful to know what you want when it's your turn to order so you don't hold up the line. They have a buy 4 get 1 free promo, which is a good deal. Most of the large sandwiches are $8. I asked for the veggies to be packed separately since I wasn't planning to eat the sandwiches right away. They call out your number when your order is ready, but the numbering system makes absolutely no sense. I was number 4082, and they were calling numbers in the 2000s, so make sure to listen closely for your number. I waited about 10 minutes for my five sandwiches to be prepared. I ordered the grilled chicken and grilled pork. They don't skimp on the meat! The chicken was just okay--tasted a bit plain, wasn't well-seasoned, and I wasn't sure if it was actually grilled. On the other hand, the grilled pork was fantastic--moist, well-marinated, and had a great grill flavor. It was a bit sweeter than I prefer, but still delicious. I also appreciated that the meat wasn't burnt or charred, unlike some places.
One of the best banh mi's I've ever had! I highly recommend the grilled pork banh mi--we also tried the bbq pork, grilled chicken, and korean spicy pork sandwiches as well. If you buy four large banh mi's, you get one FREE (so of course the marketing worked and we ended up with 5 sandwiches for about $32 total). There's a long line whenever you show up, which is a testament to how good these sandwiches are. You order inside and wait/pick up your order outside by the take-out window. Don't be discouraged by the line though, it moves pretty fast! Will definitely be back for more banh mi's next time we're in San Jose!
